COVID-19 Updates

**IMPORTANT LEAGUE MESSAGES REGARDING COVID-19**

June 5, 2020

We are excited to announce that we have begun planning to resume Caln Little League activities following the state of Pennsylvania’s presumptive announcement to move to the GREEN opening stage in the coming weeks.  At this time, we do not have specific season start date, but are hopeful to begin in late June or July. Once a date has been determined, a communication will be sent two weeks prior.

As our planning kicks off, the safety and well-being of all our families, friends, and participants is always paramount, and today, is more important than ever. As we create our safety guidelines in the new environment below are a few examples on precautions we will be taking to help you made your decision.

         • All managers/coaches, volunteers, umpires, etc., should wear Personal Protective Equipment whenever applicable and possible, such as cloth face coverings and protective medical gloves.

 • Players should wear cloth face coverings when in close contact areas and in places where recommended social distancing is challenging or not feasible, such as in dugouts.

• Managers/coaches and players should be assigned spots in the dugout or on the bleachers so that they are at least six feet apart and must be placed behind a fence.

• No personal player bat bags/equipment bags should be allowed in the dugout. Player equipment should be spaced accordingly outside the dugout to prevent direct contact.

• Players should have their own individual batter’s helmet, glove, bat, and catcher’s equipment. Measures should be enacted to avoid, or minimize, equipment sharing when feasible. When it is necessary to share critical or limited equipment, all surfaces of each piece of shared equipment must be cleaned first and the disinfected with an EPA-approved disinfectant.

• All spectators should follow best social distancing practices — stay six feet away from individuals outside  their household; wear a cloth face covering at all times; avoid direct hand or other contact with players/managers/coaches during play.

Caln Athletic Association Parents, Players, & Volunteers,

We hope this message finds you well. As previously communicated, the start of our 2020 spring season had been delayed until May 11th. This date was established by Little League International with the hope that the current social health climate would subside allowing all Little Leagues across the country to start/restart their 2020 baseball/softball seasons. Unfortunately, based on direction from Governor Wolf and the PA Department of Health, organized sports at Caln may not start until Chester County is promoted to the GREEN reopen stage.

This being said, we remain optimistic that we will have a baseball/softball season. The Board is preparing multiple scenarios based on when we could potentially start, which will include recommendations from Little League International and Federal/State health officials to ensure proper safety for our players, coaches, volunteers, and fans. Once we get the go-ahead, we will move forward with our season. Uniforms, supplies, baseballs, softballs, and equipment have already been purchased and we will be ready to play ball.

In the meantime, we continue to monitor region/state/county/township updates, but there is no planned start date for the 2020 season. When further decisions have been made about the season, we will be sure to provide an updated timeline.

As a reminder, per direction from the state, county, and local officials, all Chester County, Caln Township, and Coatesville Area School District fields remain closed for organized sports activities until further notice.

For the latest COVID-19 updates, please follow the news channel of your choice, the PA Department of Health website, or the Center for Disease Control's website.

Thank you again for being a valued member of the Caln Athletic Association family — your strength, courage, and support during this challenging time is truly inspiring. We will get through this together! #CalnTogether

Please stay safe and be well.

Sincerely,

Caln Athletic Association Board of Officials

COVID-19 2020 Season Credit
(if necessary or by request only)

April 16, 2020

Caln Athletic Association Parents, Players, & Volunteers,

We hope that you and your families are staying safe and healthy during the COVID-19 crisis. Like most, we remain anxious and optimistic to resume League operations soon and kickoff the 2020 spring season, however, we understand the importance of doing our part to slow down the spread of COVID-19. As previously communicated, we continue to follow Little League International’s directive to suspend League operations until May 11, 2020. Once new information becomes available we will be sure to provide updates.

As we continue to prepare and plan for the 2020 spring season, we are here to support our players, volunteers, and families during this difficult time. Please note that we expect there to be a spring season. However, in the unfortunate circumstance that we are forced to cancel the 2020 spring season, we will be providing all 2020 spring season paid participants with an applied credit, for the full amount paid, towards a future Caln Athletic Association program. If necessary, we will provide further details about this credit following any announcements regarding the status of the season.

As a reminder, per direction from the state, county, and local officials, all Chester County, Caln Township and Coatesville Area fields remain closed until further notice. If you have questions, please email us at [email protected]. For the latest COVID-19 updates, please follow the news channel of your choice, the PA Department of Health website or Center for Disease Control's website.

Thank you again for being a valued member of the Caln Athletic Association family — your strength, courage, and support during this challenging time is truly inspiring. We will get through this together!

Please stay safe and stay well.

Sincerely,

Caln Athletic Association Board of Officials

March 25, 2020

Caln Little League of the Coatesville Area will further postpone the start of the 2020 spring season until May 11th.

This decision was made following the recommendation by Little League International. During this time there will be no league activities and all fields will be closed.

Additionally, we will be following decisions made by the state, county, and Coatesville Area School District
and adjust plans as necessary.

We will continue to monitor the situation and update families as new information is made available. Please know that we fully expect to play the season. Whether it be abbreviated or extended beyond our original schedule, we want nothing more than to get the league operational. However, we will only do so when we have confidence that the health and safety of our athletes and volunteers is secure.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email [email protected]

Thank you and stay well,

Caln Athletic Association Board of Directors
